Philippines operator, Digitel, recently announced that it had successfully implemented the second phase of Neural Technologies' Minotaur™ Fraud Management System. The system protects all wireline, wireless and data services being offered by Digitel, including pre-paid services.
"We implemented phase one of the system in early 2003 and were very happy with the results. Hence, we were extremely keen to implement phase two of the project to further expand our fraud management capability in other areas of the business. The Minotaur™ system has enabled us to quickly and substantially reduce the fraud losses that we were experiencing. Fraud is a moving target and it is essential to have a system that can evolve in step with the rapid pace of the industry", said Mr. Henry Aguda, CIO of Digitel.
Since the implementation of the system, Digitel has experienced a sharp drop in the number of fraud attempts against the company's networks. The ability to quickly and accurately detect fraud has meant that Digitel has been able to proactively identify offenders and terminate their connection, and in some cases to even prosecute them.
Digitel is the largest provider of wireline services in Luzon outside the National Capital Region in terms of working lines.
