Neural Technologies (Nt) sponsored a key fraud and security workshop held by the European Telecoms Network Operators' Association (ETNO) in Malta between 26th and 30th March.
The workshop, entitled "ETNO Working Group on Fraud Control and Network Security and its Impact on Quality of Service of Next Generation Networks", provided a valuable forum for collaboration in the fight against fraud and in enhancing network security amongst member organisations.
Hosted by the Maltacom Group, the four day event was attended by 50 delegates from 26 of ETNO's member organisations. It comprised a full programme of incisive and educational presentations from ETNO members, round table discussions and bilateral contacts.
Neural Technologies participated fully in the main conference sessions and delivered a paper on the benefits of combining the fraud and credit management functions. Louise Penson, Nt's Marketing Executive, stated "We are proud to have been associated with this event. Supporting the work of groups such as ETNO and participating in these educational events allows us to learn about the ever changing face of fraud and, crucially, to ensure that our product development reflects the new challenges that are arising with the advent of next generation networks".
Established in 1992, ETNO has become the leading policy group for European electronic communications network operators. It primary objective is to establish constructive dialogue between member organisations and decision-makers, and other stakeholders involved in the development of the European Information Society. ETNO has a number of Working Groups, covering topics ranging from Research and Development to various EU policy matters.
The Working Group on Fraud Control and Network Security provides a framework for the exchange of experiences between member organisations and the development of industry best practice in fraud prevention/control and network security. To assist it in realizing its objectives, the group has established links with prestigious international organisations such as the Council of Europe, the European Commission, European and the Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Eurescom, Forum of International Irregular Network Access (FIINA), Quality of Service Development Group (QSDG), amongst others.
ETNO membership is made up of Europe's main providers of fixed, mobile and broadband services, including British Telecom, Maltacom, Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telecom, France Telecom, Portugal Telecom, TDC, WIND, Swisscom, Telekom Austria, Telenor, Telefonica and Teliasonera, to name but a few.
