Technical Support Engineer

As a member of the IT Team, you will be part of a global team (UK, US, Malaysia) responsible for providing in house IT support to the Neural Technologies Group. The successful candidate should have experience of supporting virtualised environments, as well as some knowledge of backups, server/desktop builds, license management, hardware procurement and network troubleshooting. You may also be asked to perform other duties as assigned by the Head of IT when required.

The role is in Petersfield, Hampshire, the successful candidate will either be close to this location or be prepared to relocate.

Main Accountablilities and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the IT infrastructure including: laptop builds, software installations, network troubleshooting, virtual machine management (vSphere), backups, liaising with 3rd party hardware/software vendors, G Suite management, Active Directory management
  • Maintain and support users on a daily basis as the main point of contact for technical queries and issues in the UK
  • Work with other IT team members to ensure the full availability of our hosted solutions
  • Creating documentation on new and existing IT solutions

Key Requirements

  • A good knowledge and understanding of *nix operationg systems
  • A good understanding of Windows servers and desktop operating systems
  • A basic understanding of networking principles, experience of managing enterprise grade hardware an advantage (Cisco / HP / Foritnet)
  • Exposure to Active Directory, DNS and Group Policy management
  • Knowledge of storage management and block storage principles
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware)
  • Citrix XenApp experience desirable
  • Methodical and persistent problem solver
  • 2 years experience in a similar role/undertaking similar activities would be beneficial
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant subject an advantage
